How?  Through psychology and psychotherapy there are many ways to work, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), NLP and Timeline Techniques, or even hypnosis, you can let go of those heavy old bags and feel good.  Wouldn't that be great?  To feel happy and normal like other people knowing that I am OK, I'm not a fraud, I am successful.

NLP, Timeline, Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy

 

NLPers (short for Neuro Linguistic Programming - it's about language, perception and how your body reacts) and Psychologists are able to help you to identify emotional sticking points that fill your emotional bags, and then help you to lose them!  

Then, you are free to re-energise and lighten up with self-confidence, assertiveness and self-esteem to charge ahead!

Clients from many and various settings (business owners, managers, retail outlets, the sporting arena, married, single or separated or divorced, male or female, gay or lesbian), have sought psychological/counselling or coaching help from Narelle who is a registered psychologist, and turned their life around, with:

  • Practical CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - manage those thoughts that drive you mad), 

  • Psychotherapy (role plays, metaphors, working with those parts of you that are in conflict)

How Many Psych Sessions Needed?

It's a bit like saying, how long is a piece of string?

The number of sessions usually depends on how complicated your symptoms are, how long you have had them for, what you think therapy entails, how long you think it will take to get well, and so on.

In general, most clients will have around 6 sessions, but this can extend to 12 or more, where there is a complex history with overlapping issues.

Many clients are surprised to learn that because the Timeline Techniques are quite fast, they spend a lot less time talking about their issues than they expect to.

What happens when you see your Psychologist?

 

1.  Pre-meeting client preparation

Give us a call to book in at a time to suit you, evening appointments are available and then you will be emailed a link to two easy questionnaires and a DASS42 (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Survey). 

When you complete the questionnaire your answers are emailed back to your psychologist, and this helps in two ways.  

It gives lots of your background information so that saves time during your first session, plus, you are asked to complete a Depression, Anxiety and Stress Survey (DASS) which establishes your baseline measures.  Completing these questionnaires means that we can be properly prepared for our chat together.

 

2.  At your psychology / counselling appointment

 

Receive one of the following CDs: 

Relax Now | Easy Weight Loss | Non-Smoker | Sleep Like a Baby Tonight 

- all valued at $25! and complimentary to you at your first appointment.  There are no strings attached, it is yours to keep. 

In the first chat with your psychologist, your information will be reviewed, and we will cover confidentiality, the likely number of sessions, and the type of therapy / treatment you can expect.

You'll also leave with some cognitive tools to reduce stress, so that you can practise these and get started straight away on the path to wellness.

In follow-up sessions, usually 1 week apart, you will then begin to work on letting go of those old bags of emotion, such as hurt and rejection, sadness, anger, fear and guilt.  These emotions, or similar ones, often underlie our psychological distress.

 

3.  Following your counselling / psychology appointment

 

In one of our sessions, you'll be introduced to Principles of Consciousness, which includes material on your Higher Self, Your Conscious Self and your Subconscious.  The reason for this is that most people do not understand fully what's going on, and why they have become the way they are.  

Through understanding yourself, and by extension, others, you'll find it a lot easier to be more comfortable with yourself.  This philosophical framework gives you immediate tools for working with yourself.

Plus, you will receive motivational emails that help you to prepare for the next chat, and that provide information and education to help you between visits.  

You'll also receive information by email on Principles of Consciousness and your wonderful subconscious mind (often called the inner child), meditation, Cognitive Behavioural Psychology (CBT), stress management, emotional management techniques and lots more.

 

4.  Paying for your counselling or psych session

 

You settle your account at the time of the appointment by Eftpos, Health Fund + Gap payment or Credit Card.

Medicare Rebates?  Psychology and Health Fund Rebates?

Narelle is a registered psychologist (since 1997) with a Provider Number for Medicare rebates and Health Fund rebates, and is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. 

Please book in with your GP for a long appointment if you wish to be referred under the new Mental Health Shared Care Plan.  

Your GP will then make the referral to your preferred psychologist.  At your Psychology appointment, when you pay your account, your Receipt will need to include the Doctor's full name, Provider Number, and Date of Referral, so please ensure that you have this information with you or that you have provided it in your completed questionnaire.

When you have paid the account for your psychology session, you take your receipt to Medicare where you will be refunded just over $75 for a 55 minute session.

Fees (per 55 minute session) are as follows:

Full time students (on student allowance) and pensioners:     $180

Working PT:    $180

Working FT:    $200
