Psychology & Healing Question

What do you think? Is there a place for healing practices such as spiritual healing, Reiki, or simply hands-on healing in conjunction with psychological therapy?

Pain Management

I am asking this question because I recently helped a friend with a combination of the two practiceGraphic of Nepal Prayer Temples. She was in severe pain as her left eye had what appeared to be an allergic reaction to something. Her eye was swollen and weeping, her contact lense could not be removed as it was too painful to touch, her nose was running and needless to say, she looked and felt miserable.

About 20 minutes after we started she said that there was no pain in her eye and it felt a lot better. I hasten to add that I think Phenergan takes longer than 20 minutes to have an effect as she had resorted to the anti-histamine tablet to bring down the swelling.

What did I do? A combination of hands-off spiritual healing, and a guided pain relief exercise.

Pain Management – a different technique

Hands-off Healing

Hands-off healing is when you have your hands above the area in question and do not touch the physical body or clothing. In this position you are interacting with the aura or energy field surrounding the body.

Spiritual Healing

The spiritual healing is a mental exercise of connection with my High Self  (connected with God) and I channel healing via my High Self to her High Self and direct the healing energy to flow through her to where it is needed most.

Where did psychology come into this? I started with a relaxation process to help her to physically relax.

So, not a clinical setting I know, and yet it begs the question, should there be more of this kind of work?
